TEMPORARY LIVE-STREAM: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) FOR INSTRUCTORS
The following information pertains specifically to the temporary live-streaming workouts using royalty-free music, available from YouTube. Please note: these workouts will be removed from YouTube after 31 August 2020.
GREAT NEWS: As of mid-July 2020, we do have a new option for our Club Partners to live-stream regular Releases. Click here for full details, read the important FAQs and then speak to your local Business Partnership Manager in Australia or Southeast Asia to adjust your Licence Agreement to include live-streaming. The great news is, this option is available for no charge until January 2021.
To help support our Club Partners and Instructors during this challenging time, we have created a library of temporary workouts using royalty-free music, so Clubs can engage their qualified Instructors to livestream the programs they’re licensed to deliver, to their members via the club’s social media channels. Instructors need to speak directly with their Club, to discuss how they plan to deliver this temporary group fitness timetable, and how they can get involved. Please note: This library of temporary workouts will be removed from YouTube after 31 August 2020.
To find out more about this live-streaming solution please read the following important FAQs.
Which of the programs can I teach?
To preserve the quality of the programs delivered – even in these unusual circumstances – it is a condition of use that Clubs only stream the programs they are licensed to deliver, and those programs must only be taught by Instructors who are currently qualified to do so. Given the unprecedented situation we are in, different regions may be doing things differently; however, Les Mills Asia Pacific is committed to quality assurance, which means this stance is non-negotiable.
The following table indicates the program licensing requirements for clubs and the qualifications required by instructors, to deliver these temporary workouts.

How long can these workouts be used to live-stream?
We are providing these workouts to support Clubs and Instructors during this difficult period while clubs are closed due to Government directives. Once Clubs are allowed to open again, these workouts can no longer be used. Please note: This library of temporary workouts will be removed from YouTube after 31 August 2020.
Are these workouts the same as the usual Les Mills releases?
No. To bring you a new release Les Mills usually spends weeks licensing the best music and creating and refining the choreography to the music. These new workouts are great, but they have been put together quickly using royalty-free music in order to support our global Tribe during this difficult time. Live classes using our regular releases is the premium experience for members, and that’s what we aim to have everyone return to doing, once this difficult period is over.
Why can I stream these workouts and not our regular Les Mills releases?
These workouts can be streamed as they include royalty-free music that we have created exclusively for Les Mills. As of mid-July 2020, we do have a new option to live-stream regular Releases. Click here for full details, read the important FAQs and speak to your local Business Partnership Manager in Australia or Southeast Asia to adjust your Licence Agreement to include live-streaming. The great news is, this option is available at no charge until January 2021.
Can I stream these on my personal social media channels?
No. Our goal is to empower Instructors to continue teaching with Clubs. By streaming on your Club’s social channels, your Club can develop a timetable across multiple instructors for all members. Members will also be able to easily find the classes available to them. Please refer to the ‘Handy Tips for Live Streaming’ doc for guidance.
Can I record myself teaching this class for the Club to then broadcast?
No. Live-streaming is recommended for these temporary workouts, so the Club can restore a sense of community and engagement among members as they workout. If you have any questions or if you are unclear about how this works, you should speak directly with your Club about their specific requirements and plans.
Where is the music?
Once your Club provides you with access to these temporary workouts, a link to download the music is provided under each individual masterclass. The music is stored in DISCO, an online storage platform. You can mix playlists in DISCO or download the playlist to your preferred device.
Where are the choreography notes?
These are contained within the music download links.
Can I stream the music from my mobile device?
It is recommended the music be downloaded to a PC. If you are using a mobile device/tablet you can stream the music or download the files to a cloud platform, such as Dropbox. We do not recommend you live stream the class and music on the same device as there will be a lag. If you are streaming music, you’ll want to stream from a separate device than you are livestreaming your class from. If you only have one device, it’s best to film with the music in the background and upload the class rather than live-streaming.
Why is YouTube cutting off access to playing the music?
We have tried to clear the music through YouTube, but the platform has some restrictions even with royalty-free music. If you have issues with music permissions, it is recommended you live-stream using Facebook, Instagram or other platforms such as Zoom or Go-To Meeting, for example.
Why aren’t all the Les Mills programs included?
We have been able to offer Clubs and members a range of options across the four main genres of cardio, dance, strength and flexibility, but in order to provide access as quickly as possible, we had to utilise current Les Mills original songs and the classes that went with them. We hope to add more royalty-free music content to the site, as it becomes available.
Why are there no cycle programs?
We prioritised programs that do not require equipment, in order to maximise the members you can reach at home.
If I am not yet certified, can I teach these workouts?
In Asia Pacific, Clubs will be responsible for engaging their Instructors to deliver this content so generally speaking, you’d be best advised to focus on completing your certification assessment first.
We all know the Internet contains a lot of conflicting and even contradictory information. In the event that you read anything different to what you read here, please feel confident that what is stated here are the conditions of use that apply to all Club Partners and Instructors in the Asia Pacific region.
